Mobile search company AskMeNow said it has signed a letter of intent to acquire Expert Systems S.p.A. Expert Systems, based in Modena, Italy, provides search, classification and extraction of unstructured information based natural language processing. AskMeNow and Expert Systems previously worked together under an exclusive partnership announced last year aimed at delivering a mobile question-and-answer service.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“This potential acquisition will significantly change our capabilities in terms of distributing deep semantic technology to enterprise customers,” said AskMeNow CEO Darryl Cohen. “The development of a delivery of a customer service mechanism will allow users to access information through natural language, a decided advantage when using a mobile device.”
The purchase is expected to close within four months.
