$100 Moto Rizr rises at T-Mobile USA

The procession of handset announcements coinciding with next week’s CTIA Wireless 2007 conference is underway, and Motorola Inc. just threw a new phone at T-Mobile USA Inc.
The handset is known officially as the Moto Rizr z3, and features a sliding-style form factor.
The Rizr z3 sports Motorola’s noted work on colors, materials and finishes; it is “pearl blue” with a soft-touch finish. The phone’s features and T-Mobile’s services appear oriented towards social networking, with a 2 megapixel camera and dedicated hard key for snapping photos and sharing them via the carrier’s My Album, which stores pictures, video and voice messages for access by others.
The phone also provides a music player accessible by stereo Bluetooth headphones. The press materials do not state the device’s onboard memory but note that memory is expandable to 2 gigabytes with a microSD card.
The handset sells for $100 with a two-year contract.
