Alltel Corp. introduced a new phone from LG Electronics Co. Ltd, the AX8600. The flip phone features a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, an expandable memory slot, an MP3 player and touch-sensitive external music buttons. It’s selling for $50 with a two-year service agreement on the carrier’s Web site.
LG’s new phone for Alltel also supports the carrier’s newly launched Celltop service, which allows users to customize various features and services available from their phone’s home screen.
The phone is shipping in blue, green and gold variations.
The AX8600 is LG’s sixth phone for Alltel, which is the nation’s fifth-largest carrier. Fellow CDMA carrier Verizon Wireless also offers the phone, but is selling it for $130 with a contract.
