READING, England-Software company Tao Group launched a mobile version of its intent multimedia software platform for handset vendors.
Tao Group said the intent Mobile solution supports several different operating systems-including Linux and Microsoft Corp.’s Windows CE-and features a middleware suite and an application suite that includes a full HTML browser, image viewer and an integrated messaging suite. The company said the technology allows vendors to customize the software’s user interface.
In addition, the company said the product allows for over-the-air updates.
Earlier this month, Tao Group announced its intent GamePlayer platform, which it said provides a console-quality gaming experience on wireless devices.
The privately held company was founded in 1992 and is headquartered in Reading, England, with additional offices in the United States, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. The company said its customers include Hitachi Ltd., JVC, Kyocera Corp., NEC Corp., Panasonic, Philips, Sagem S.A., Sony Corp. and Teleca.
In addition to its intent Mobile launch, the company said it plans to demonstrate 3D gaming content on Texas Instruments Inc.’s OMAP 2 family of applications processors.
Tao also announced last week plans to demonstrate its intent GamePlayer platform using Nvidia’s GoForce handheld graphics processing units running premium 3D game content.
