Starent secures investment from T-Mobile Venture Fund

TEWKSBURY, Mass.-Network gateway vendor Starent Networks Corp. announced it scored an investment from T-Mobile Venture Fund. The amount of the investment was not disclosed.

Starent said the investment will help the company expand into the W-CDMA market. Starent has made its mark to date in the CDMA field with customers including KDDI Corp. and Verizon Wireless.

“We are looking forward to a long-term and successful relationship with T-Mobile Venture Fund as we continue our company’s expansion in the UMTS market,” said Ashraf Dahod, Starent’s president and chief executive officer. “Since our inception, we have made significant progress capturing some of the industry’s largest and most innovative carriers. We are very pleased to have one of the industry’s most prominent venture group’s support in our endeavors. This funding is a testament to our business case for providing carriers with compelling next-generation multimedia solutions.”

Starent Networks sells its ST16 Intelligent Mobile Gateway, which the company said supports high-speed packet data, enhanced voice and multimedia capabilities.
