LONDON-CSR plc, which provides Bluetooth and wireless local area network single-chip solutions, announced it will purchase UbiNetics’ Volume Product Technology wireless software company.
The deal is valued at $48 million.
UbiNetics sold the other part of its business, the test and measurement division, to Aeroflex earlier this year for $84.5 million.
UbiNetics was founded in 1999 as an independent venture company as part of the wireless technology practice of PA Consulting.
“The sale this year of both parts of UbiNetics-software (VPT) and UbiNetics’ Test and Measurement business-has resulted in a healthy return on investment and is in line with PA’s policy to realize our ventures when the timing is right,” said Jon Moynihan, chairman of UbiNetics and executive chairman of PA Consulting.
