RIM renews license for synch software

SAN JOSE, Calif.-Research In Motion Ltd. renewed its license for Intellisync Corp.’s synchronization software, which RIM uses exclusively in the desktop computer component of its BlackBerry wireless e-mail product. Intellisync’s technology ensures that e-mails and information entered into a BlackBerry are also synchronized with information in a desktop computer.

“We are pleased to renew our relationship with Intellisync and view the Intellisync software as a very important element of our offerings for the global ‘prosumer’ market,” said Mark Guibert, RIM’s vice president of corporate marketing. “By leveraging Intellisync’s technology, we are providing users with a powerful PIM synchronization solution that helps keep them organized and productive.”

Intellisync, formerly Pumatech, said more than 200 device manufacturers, software developers and online services have licensed its synchronization platform.
