Sierra Wireless introduced the AirCard 775 PC Card and the MP 775 GPS modem for EDGE networks at the CTIA show in Atlanta. Both products are slated for commercial availability in the second half of this year. The AirCard 775 offers data rates up to three times faster than on GPRS networks, according to Sierra Wireless, for enhanced user experience and increased productivity. The MP 775 rugged vehicle-mount modem provides in-vehicle data solutions. It operates over EDGE and GSM/GPRS networks. Sierra Wireless is offering current MP 750 GPS rugged wireless modem customers an upgrade to the MP 775 modem.
Wavecom SA and SensorLogic said they are working together to market complete machine-to-machine solutions for existing GSM and CDMA networks. According to the agreement announced at CTIA 2004, SensorLogic will integrate devices from Wavecom’s hardware partners, based on the WISMO Quick Q2426 and Q2438 CDMA modules, in the SensorLogic M2M Portal. The company will present Wavecom as a preferred module supplier of data devices to SensorLogic customers and its sales force while Wavecom will promote the SensorLogic portal to its carrier partners, said the companies.
MapInfo Corp. introduced its location-based demographic analysis solution for telecommunications companies at the CTIA show last week. The Predictive Analytics solution is designed to help communications companies perform in-depth analysis of customers, new markets and potential adoption of new products and services, said the company.
WDS Global will integrate Bitfone Corp.’s mProve 3.1 over-the-air firmware update technology into its service framework. The solution should allow carriers to configure user settings and update handset software over the air. The companies demonstrated the solution at the CTIA Wireless show in Atlanta. The companies say the joint solution ensures that, after point-of-sale, mobile phones remain compliant with the latest device parameters and software configurations.
