CANNES-Lucent Technologies Inc. teamed with Cisco Systems Inc. to develop voice over Internet Protocol and multimedia communications solution for mobile carriers.
The agreement will combine Lucent Softswitch and Cisco MGX 8000 series media gateways, which will converge traditional voice services with dynamic media services, including Web-based features.
“This will enable operators to take advantage of the tremendous revenue potential, and cost savings made possible by IP technology,” said John Marinho, vice president of offer management with Lucent mobility solutions group.
