Intel, Motorola join MIPI

DALLAS-The Mobile Industry Processor Interface Alliance said two major vendors, Intel Corp. and Motorola Inc., are among its 35 new members.

The organization defines and promotes open standards for interfaces to mobile application processors.

“Our growing membership base sends a clear signal that the mobile industry supports the objectives of our organization,” said Tom Vial, chairman of the board. “The diversity of the companies involved leaves little doubt that the MIPI Alliance is an open organization, and the specifications we produce will be widely adopted.”

Some of the other new members include Infineon Technologies Inc., Ericsson Mobile Platform, Siemens AG, Agilent Technologies, NeoMagic, Sendo and Symbian.

The organization began with four players-ARM, Nokia Corp., STMicroelectronics and Texas Instruments Inc.
