Wavecom to cut 300 jobs

ISSY-LES-MOULINEAUX, France-Wavecom SA said it plans to lay off about 300 workers as part of a restructuring effort.

The company that makes modules said it will lay off the workers by the middle of this year, and its work force will drop from 860 to 560 people.

The company’s reduced headcount derives from its plan to restructure the company to four business units, two of which will be the face of the firm. Personal communications devices and verticals are the two prime units. The other two are the solutions product group and the systems and silicon group.
