Siemens, Microsoft cooperate on enterprise technology

LONDON-Siemens AG said it has collaborated with Microsoft Corp. to develop a real-time communications technology called OpenScape for enterprise.

The application converges voice and data and combines instant messaging, presence information, a range of multimedia collaboration tools, e-mail and the Outlook calendar for office communication.

“I believe this is a quantum leap in business communications,” said Graham Walker, managing director of Siemens communications. “Siemens OpenScape will prove to be a major turning point in overcoming the problem of information and message overload.”
