Tekelec, Santera to merge switching businesses

CALABASAS, Calif.-Tekelec and Santera Systems Inc. announced they will merge their next-generation switching businesses.

The new company will be a majority owned subsidiary of Tekelec and will be called Santera, a Tekelec company. It will be located in Plano, Texas, at Santera’s current headquarters and will complement Tekelec’s existing signaling solutions center in Research Triangle Park, N.C.

“Our combined next-generation switching unit will have the product portfolio, operational expertise, global reach and financial strength to position ourselves to be a preferred switching solution provider for service providers worldwide,” said Fred Lax, president and chief executive officer of Tekelec.
