T-Mobile launches in Calif., Nevada

BELLEVUE, Wash.-Currently known as VoiceStream, T-Mobile today broke into the U.S. market, launching voice and data services in California and Nevada.

T-Mobile’s Get More services, promoted by spokeswoman Catherine Zeta-Jones, work over a GSM network that promises “more minutes, more features and more services than any other carrier.” Service plans feature large chunks of anytime minutes, free long distance and free digital GSM roaming as well as two-way text messaging and wireless Internet and data capabilities.

The launch, which begins VoiceStream’s brand transition to T-Mobile, provides services to the first of 45 to 50 U.S. markets where T-Mobile plans to market its brand in coming months.
