HP plans job cuts in Europe following Compaq merger

FRANKFURT, Germany-Hewlett-Packard Co. said it plans to shed 5,900 jobs in Europe as part of the fallout from its merger with Compaq.

The company did not provide details on how many positions will be cut in what countries.
