Leap says one-fourth of customers cut cord

SAN DIEGO-More than 26 percent of Leap Wireless International Inc. Cricket customers reported they do not have a traditional wireline phone at home, according to a company survey, well ahead of the low single-digit percentage for all wireless customers as reported by the Yankee Group in a recent user survey.

Leap said the survey, which was conducted by an independent research firm that polled approximately 4,000 Cricket customers across all 40 of the carrier’s markets, showed that of those customers without a landline phone, 61 percent were between the ages of 18 and 34; 75 percent were single; and 44 percent lived in one- or two-person households.
