Gtran ships dual-band cdma2000 1x EV-DO data card

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.-Wireless modem maker Gtran Wireless Inc. has said its dual-band cdma2000 1x EV-DO data card known as the DotSurfer 6200 is now commercially available.

The company said the product “future-proofs” the customer against evolving standards.

“This advanced wireless modem eliminates the need for wireless carriers to support multiple generations of data cards based on different standards such as IS-95a, ISB or cdma2000 1x,” said the company.

Gtran’s single band DotSurfer 6000 is being deployed with major wireless carrier. The DotSurfer 6200, which also supports 800 and 1900 MHz networks, provides transmission speeds up to 2.4 Megabits per seconds for streaming audio and video.

“The DotSurfer 6200 reduces the cost of ownership for wireless operators and enterprise clients worldwide,” says Ann Cole, director of marketing at Gtran Wireless. “With this single product, wireless operators no longer need to manage multiple data cards to meet the needs of their mobile subscribers.”
