New cellular operator in Paraguay

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina—The Paraguayan Communications Company (CPC) was granted a license by the National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel) to offer cellular telephony in Paraguay on the 900 MHz frequency using GSM technology. The president of Conatel, Victor Bogado, stated “CPC will be shortly offering its services in the market”.

CPC belongs to the Rieder & Co. Group. It will be the fifth cellular operator, among Copesa, Personal, Telecel and Vox. Currently, cellular telephony has a penetration of 22 percent in Paraguay, with 1.25 million users.
