REDMOND, Wash.-InfoSpace.com introduced its person-to-person instant messaging service for mobile wireless devices.
The company said the server-based service will allow users on different networks and devices to send instant text-messages to each other, including those on Internet networks such as America Online. Because the user’s information resides on the server, incoming instant messages can be routed to wireless devices even when the users’ computer is turned off, the company said. From Internet-enabled mobile devices, users can access their group lists and send messages as well.
Wireless carrier partners involved in the project include AT&T Wireless Services Inc., Sprint PCS and BellSouth Corp. Device manufacturers include Nokia Corp., L.M. Ericsson and NeoPoint Inc.
