SENEGAL GSM CONTRACT AWARDED

LUXEMBOURG-SENTELgsm, a company owned 75 percent by Millicom International Cellular S.A., was awarded a 900 MHz Global System for Mobile communications license covering all of The Republic of Senegal.

Located in western Africa, the country has a population of about 10 million, with nearly 1.9 million people living in the capital city of Dakar, where the GSM network initially is scheduled to be rolled out, said MIC.

“MIC’s three licenses in Africa cover a population under license of some 56.7 million people and represent a considerable opportunity for future growth,” said Marc Beuls, MIC president and chief executive officer.
