HANOVER, Germany-Geoworks Corp. announced its graphical, communications-centric GEOS operating system will provide the foundation for the new Nokia Corp. 9110 Communicator for Global System for Mobile communications 900 MHz networks.
“Nokia’s unveiling of the 9110 Communicator is another major milestone for Geoworks, because it reflects the first of the next-generation smart communicator which follows the trend of other consumer products-smaller, lighter, more powerful and providing longer battery life,” said David Thatcher, Geoworks president.
GEOS operating system uses a flexible graphical user interface, which allows original equipment manufacturers to customize a range of communications products, said Geoworks.
The Nokia 9110 Communicator currently is available only in Europe, but the company may introduce the phone in the United States in the future.
