Mtel simplifies credit covenants

Mobile Telecommunication Technologies Corp. announced it has simplified certain covenants associated with its $250 million credit facility after negotiations with its bank group.

Modified items include the elimination of the one-way units in service covenant and the extension of Mtel’s exit of Asia until Dec. 31, 1998. Also, the company’s lead agent bank, Chase Manhattan Bank, confirmed that Mtel may include certain fixed wireless units under contract when figuring compliance with the advanced messaging units in service covenant.

Motorola enhances Telsim’s network

Turkey’s Global System for Mobile communications network operator, Telsim, awarded Motorola Inc.’s Cellular Infrastructure Group a contract to expand its network.

In addition to the existing expansion contract, Motorola CIG won replacement orders for the entire west coast of Turkey, including the city of Izmir and Bursa region. Motorola deployed its new generation M-Cell series of GSM base station infrastructure for the replacement program.
