BOSTON INSTALLS SS7 FOR PREPAID SERVICE

WOBURN, Mass.-Boston Communications Group Inc. announced it successfully implemented Signalling System 7 in support of a wireless carrier’s prepaid service offering.

This implementation will give carriers and their subscribers the advantage of faster call completion, more call information and the ability to support more features including caller ID and future integration with other enhanced services platforms, said Boston Communications.

SS7 is a set of protocol standards for network signaling Integrated Services Digital Network. These standards provide a means for different manufacturers of telephone equipment to connect to each other in a network.

“Since the introduction of the Boston Communications Group C2C prepaid network, there have been many requests to provide support for [SS7] protocols,” said Paul Tobin, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Boston Communications.
