Moving up seemingly from out of nowhere to first place last year in terms of percentage revenue change was the Associated Group.

The Pennsylvania company is the developer of the True Position Enhanced 911 caller location system and a majority owner of Teligent Inc., the startup wireless competitive local exchange carrier headed by former AT&T Corp. President Alex Mandl.

Associated saw its percent revenue explode almost 369 percent from 1995 to 1996,

Teletouch Communications Inc. held onto its second place position for the second straight year, while the 1995 first place holder, InterDigital Communications Corp. dropped out of the rankings altogether in 1996.

Near the bottom of this year’s list are regional Bell companies Bell Atlantic Corp. and Nynex Corp., which both saw decreases in percent revenues from 1995 to 1996. The two companies presently are merging their businesses, which should give them more operating efficiencies.
