BUSINESS BRIEFS

Cellular One began offering local telephone service in Rochester, N.Y., adding to its package of local and long-distance wireless service, paging, Internet access and long-distance wireline service. “By adding local phone service, we have reached our goal of building a `one-stop shop’ for telecommunications services in Rochester,” said Jeff Ducato, president of Cellular One’s upstate New York region. The company plans to add local service to its other New York markets including Buffalo, Syracuse and Albany, this year.

Centennial Communications Corp. secured nearly $21 million in convertible preferred equity financing from The Centennial Funds, Crest International Holdings and BancBoston Capital Ventures. The funds will be used for internal growth, acquisitions and general corporate purposes.
