MOTOROLA FINISHES FLEX WARNING NET

FORT WORTH, Texas-Motorola Inc.’s Advanced Messaging Group completed a 900 MHz FLEX protocol-based paging system for National Network Communications Inc.

National Network Communications will use the infrastructure to support its IWARN immediate warning system. The IWARN center notifies the public of emergency situations such as hurricanes or tornadoes through electronic communications devices such as pagers. The company expects the system to be up in the second quarter.

“A large proportion of (National Network Communications’) service offerings are based on alphanumeric paging, which has a tendency to drain system capacity,” said Stan Chestnut, the company’s president. “In order to successfully expand IWARN and our other alphanumeric services, (National Network Communications) needs the increased capacity that FLEX protocol-based infrastructure will provide.”
