UNIDEN STAFF CUTS NOTED

FORT WORTH, Texas- Uniden Corporation of America, which has been downsizing for the past two years, has made additional cuts during the last 10 days, disbanding its technical support staff and dismissing additional upper and middle managers. Two leaders of its two-way radio division, Tim Moore and Marcia Mille, are among those that have been released from duty.

Sources close to the situation confirmed that the company had laid off so many lower-level employees that it was management-heavy across the board.

In addition, Uniden reportedly has been considering exiting the two-way market in favor of the more lucrative consumer-electronics arena. Calls to Paul Davis, Uniden executive vice president, and Sam Nichols, cellular division vice president, were unreturned at press time.
