COMSAT’S NEW UNIT TO FOCUS ON MSS

Comsat International Communications is creating a business unit to focus solely on mobile satellite communications. Comsat Personal Communications initially will concentrate on Comsat’s Planet 1 global phone service scheduled to be available later this year. By the turn of the century CPC also will be responsible for handheld phone services planned through the ICO Global Communications satellite network, the company said.

Telular’s revenues fall 44.3 percent

Telular Corp. reported a net loss of $17.4 million, or 69 cents per share, for the second quarter ended March 31, compared with a $4.1 million loss, or 17 cents per share, a year earlier. Net revenues also fell 44.3 percent, to $4.6 million, from $8.2 million in last year’s second quarter.
