ORA Electronics introduced Travel Talk, a hands-free speaker phone for portable cellular phones. The unit can be transferred from one vehicle to another providing hands-free conversations without compromising the convenience of a portable cellular phone, said ORA. Travel Talk also serves as a power cord that charges the phone’s battery during use. According to the company, the unit features an integrated, high-powered built-in microphone that allows clear conversations. One end of the compact unit plugs into a vehicle’s cigarette lighter and the other into the user’s phone. ORA said the product is available for Motorola Inc.’s MicroTac series portable cellular phones. Motorola Inc.’s Cellular Infrastructure Group introduced the SC 4800, the first cell site specifically targeting the 1.9 GHz personal communications services market. The SC 4800 radio base station can support Code Division Multiple Access and Narrowband Advanced Mobile Phone Service as well as mixed mode operation, said Motorola. Ex Machina of New York announced its new software designed to transform the paging system from a messaging network into a comprehensive wireless information system. Ex Machina said Notify! Mobile allows personal computer users to receive short text and data files on PC card paging data receivers and send and receive data using narrowband personal communications services transceivers with the new two-way messaging systems. For example, users can receive wireless updates including architectural drawings, timely medical data such as EKGs, real estate listings and mortgage rate sheets. The software runs on Windows 3.1 and Windows ’95 and also is available on Ex Machina’s Paging Software Starter Kit.
