NTT, ACCESSLINE TO OFFER A SINGLE-NUMBER SERVICE

BELLEVUE, Wash.-Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. and AccessLine Technologies Inc. have formed a joint venture to deliver AccessLine’s single-number service in Japan. It will be offered to customers in metropolitan Tokyo.

Nippon’s wireless subsidiary, NTT Mobile Communications Network Inc. also is a partner in the venture, which is owned equally by the three. Ownership may be opened further in the future, the companies said.

AccessLine will deploy its intelligent network platform to interface with the Japanese telecommunications network and will provide ongoing support for the technology. Mark A. Louison will be president and chief executive office of the new company; he is AccessLine’s executive vice president and chief operating officer.

“The joint venture framework establishes a unique opportunity for an American technology firm to work with NTT in their home market of Japan,” Louison said.
