PAGEMART SELECTS SUN FOR NETWORK COMPUTING

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.-PageMart Inc. has selected Sun servers, from Sun Microsystems Co., as the network computing platform for a new corporate information system that will automate many company operations, announced Mountain View, Calif.-based Sun.

PageMart will use Sun’s SPARCcenter 2000 servers running Oracle relational database financial applications and the Vantive Enterprise-a customer information application provided by Santa Clara, Calif.-based Vantive Corp.- to automate customer service operations including billing.

SPARCcenter “can deliver enhanced performance by simply adding more processors to each unit,” said Sandy Neal, PageMart’s executive vice president of administration. “This open-systems hardware solution will meet our needs for years to come.”

The new system will handle standard accounting, inventory and management reporting functions, as well. Systems House Ltd., based in Canada, is the systems integrator.
