Channel surfing-Although most consumers still purchase cellular service through cellular carriers, the retail sales channel is creeping up in popularity, according to a survey on cellular buying last year by BIS Strategic Decisions Inc. Consumer electronics superstores lead the pack, claiming 47 percent of cellular retail spending last year, followed by office superstores, which saw 16 percent of retail sales. The trend shows that cellular phone sales are penetrating the mass market.
