PCS PRIVECO ALLIANCE NAMES EXECUTIVE TO LEAD VENTURE’S WIRELESS EFFORTS

NEW YORK-Mobile communications executives George Schmitt and Al Boschulte have been chosen to lead the PCS PrimeCo L.P. alliance between U S West Inc., AirTouch Communications, Nynex Corp. and Bell Atlantic Corp.

Schmitt, formerly AirTouch executive vice president, will manage the venture’s bidding strategy in the Dec. 5 PCS auctions and will oversee the design, construction and rollout of the partnership’s PCS networks.

Boschulte, president and chairman of Nynex Mobile Communications, will head up efforts to develop a national branding and marketing strategy for both cellular and PCS customers. A new wireless voice and data service will be created and information systems technology developed, the company said. Boschulte’s current position will be eliminated following the merger of cellular properties of Nynex and Bell Atlantic, expected to be completed by mid 1995.

Schmitt, who is responsible for AirTouch’s international operations, will be replaced by Arun Sarin, senior vice president of AirTouch corporate strategy.

AirTouch Cellular President Lee Cox will serve as president of the company’s domestic wireless businesses division and vice chairman of the board of directors.
