BellSouth Telecommunications Inc. has signed a five-year contract with Doston Technology Inc. to purchase equipmint that delivers inhanced services. BellSouth uses Boston’s CO ACCESS Network Services Platforms to provide MemoryCall service, including call answering and voice messaging, in semveral Southern states.

Metrocall Inc. announced it has completed the acquisition of AllCity Paging of Tarzana, Calif., adding 140,000 pagers to Metrocall’s subscriber base. Metrocall will issue about 636,000 shares of its common stock to AllCity shareholders and will refinance approximately $15.6 million in debt.

Orbital Sciences Corp. announced it has signed an agreement to acquire Magellan Corp., a manufacturer of satellite-based navigation equipment for consumer and industrial markets. Terms of the agreement dictate Orbital will exchange about 3 million shares of its common stock for all of Magellan’s outstanding stock. Orbital expects Magellan will supply personal communicators to Orbital’s global communications system, called Orbcomm.

Motorola Inc.’s Transmission Products Division is entering the retail modem marketplace with the introduction of two new brands-the Lifestyle and Power series-aimed at the individual corporate, small business and home personal computer user. The Lifestyle Series modems use standard telephone lines and are designed for home and first-time PC users. The Power Series products, for use with cellular telephones, are for business and professional users.

CellStar Corp. said it will begin distributing AT&T Corp. cellular products to rural cellular service carriers throughout the United States. CellStar is an integrated wholesale distributor and retailer of cellular telephones and related products in the United States, Latin America and Hong Kong. The company currently distributes products from Motorola Inc., NEC Corp. and Nokia Corp.

Vanguard Cellular Systems Inc. said it will market the POS-50 wireless credit card terminal manufactured by Boulder, Colo.-based U.S. Wireless Data Inc. The terminal verifies and approves transactions before issuing customer receipts and uses an authorization code that allows funds to be electronically transferred into the merchant’s bank account. Vanguard is marketing the system to businesses that are mobile or have limited access to telephone lines.

Racotek Inc., a wireless mobile data company, has signed a reseller agreement for Ram Mobile Data USA L.P.’s network. Organizations with software applications written to the RacoNet operating environment will have access to the Ram mobile data network without changing their applications.

Ora Electronics, a division of Alliance Research Corp., announced it completed its purchase of Cellabs, a company that makes professional interface products for the cellular communications industry. Cellabs’ product line will be redesigned to integrate with Ora’s line of electronic accessories, to be called “Cellabs by Ora.”
