Groupon and Foursquare team up on daily deals

Two top social apps are apparently joining forces, with news Groupon and Foursquare are teaming up with a daily deal partnership.

Location based social app Foursquare has long been trying to make some sort of “deal” breaker into the industry, and how better than to team up with the king of coupon buying, local firm Groupon?

Of course, this isn’t the only partnership Foursquare has been pursuing, having already locked down  AT&T, LivingSocial, BuyWithMe, Gilt City and zozi, though those particular deals can only be purchased for future use, not immediate use.

It’s hoped that the deal with Groupon will change that, offering on the spot mobile spontaneity when it comes to snapping up a daily deal.

Groupon recently launched its “Now” deals across 25 cities in the US, and integrating them into the Foursquare check-in service – with its 10 million members – ensures better analytics of how many deals are being cashed in and where.

Those using Foursquare can expect to see a Groupon redemption box pop up in their app very soon indeed. If you use it, make sure you write to us and tell us about your experience.
