MACH India Pvt Ltd. entered into a contract with Bharti Cellular of India to offer cellular clearinghouse services for the country. The agreement includes MACH Data, the clearing service for automatic roaming; MACH Finance, financial clearing and settlement services; MACH Fraud, exposure and high-usage monitoring services; and MACH Roam, signing of international roaming agreements on behalf of clients and other value-added services.

DSC Communications Corp., United States, announced its cellular infrastructure division, Celcore, has signed a contract to deploy a cellular system in Lagos, Nigeria. DSC will supply its AMPS cellular network.

L.M. Ericsson reported signing a three-year framework agreement with the mobile network operator Kyivstar G.S.M. JSC in the Ukraine for GSM network solutions. Ericsson values the contract at US$100 million over a three-year period. Kyivstar is one of three network operators in the Ukraine.

GEC-Marconi Communications will supply a TETRA digital mobile radio system to NEC Systems and Construction Ltd. for the Singapore Lan Transport Authority’s Northeast Line Metro Project. The company said it also will provide training, installation, supervision and systems commissioning of the network as part of the contract.

InterDigital Communications Corp. has announced orders for its UltraPhone wireless local loop system from Telecom Namibia, Vietnam PJT, Kenya KPTC and Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications totaling US$1.3 million. InterDigital said it will ship one system and an expansion system that will provide telecom services to two locations in Namibia and one system each to Vietnam, Kenya and Myanmar.

Nokia and Polkomtel S.A. have signed a contract for Nokia to provide GSM infrastructure valued at DEM 200 million. The deal continues the expansion of Polkomtel’s nationwide GSM 900 network and a cooperation between the two companies that began in 1996.

NetCom GSM of Oslo, Norway has awarded Siemens AG a contract to expand and modernize its base stations in southern Norway. Siemens estimated the contract’s value at US$84 million.
