A new survey by IDG Connect, a lead generation division of International Data Group, states that 91% of iPad-using IT and business decision-makers worldwide use their Apple iPad for work communication.

The iPad for Business Survey 2012, based on interviews with IT and business professionals who use iPads on every continent, reveals a robust loyalty to Apple with 83% globally stating they would not consider buying a different tablet device next time.

“The research shows the tablet is fast becoming a true work device, provided by employers and used in the office for business communication. It also highlights some startling regional variations, emphasizing the need for marketers to adapt content to local markets as well as new mediums,” the survey states.

The survey reveals that about quarter of respondents have their iPad supplied by work, a statistic which climbs sharply in continents like Africa (47%) and Europe (40%). In addition to this, a surprising 51% of those surveyed always use the device at work, almost as many as always use it at home (54%). This is especially true in the Middle East and Africa, where more than 70% always use it at work and less than half always use it at home.

In addition, the survey found that:

  • 97% of professionals use the iPad for reading
  • 70% + now buy fewer physical books and newspapers
  • 72% of iPad owners carry their laptop less
  • 66% say the iPad has partially or completely replaced their laptop

  1. Wall Street is always telling publicly traded companies to bring in that money no matter what. So if the mini is eating away at the sales of the larger iPad , so damn what. As long as every growing revenues enter into the cofers of Apple people shouldn’t be bitchin. I gave my iPad 2 to my gf and I picked up the 32 gig wifi only mini. AWESOME. Now wait until the mini gets the retina treatment and that A6 chip next year. DAMN!
