Verizon Wireless subscribers in Austin and 25 other U.S. cities may find themselves working faster today. Verizon is rolling out LTE in 26 additional cities as of September 15. Cities getting LTE for the first time include Austin, Reno, Daytona and Santa Barbara. Users of the 4G LTE network in Austin can expect data rates of between 5Mb/s and 12Mb/s for downloads and 2Mb/s to 5Mb/s for uploads, according to the company.

Verizon is also adding the Motorola Droid Bionic as a 4G LTE-enabled mobile devices. These phones started arriving at Verizon stores here in Austin last week, and salespeople say they are moving quickly, with new shipments arriving roughly every two days. Motorola is touting the phone as a major productivity and entertainment tool that can stream documents and movies from the PC at very high speeds.
