LG adds GSM phones to Cingular line-up

SAN DIEGO-LG Electronics Co. Ltd. announced it will offer two new mobile phones through Cingular Wireless, further expanding the company’s push into the GSM market.

Cingular will sell LG’s new tri-band L1200 clamshell phone for $150 with rebates. The phone features support for 850/1800/1900 MHz systems as well as an integrated digital camera, text messaging and wireless Web access. Cingular will also sell the new clamshell C1300 for $90 with rebates. The C1300 features a color display and Java capabilities.

LG has rapidly risen as one of the world’s top six mobile-phone makers, largely through sales of CDMA devices. The company has recently been expanding its line of GSM devices in a bid to increase market share.
