Ireland announces TETRA license details

Ireland’s telecom regulator launched a comparative tender for a national 15-year TETRA license. The result of the competition will be announced in January 2001.

Licenses for the two blocks of 2 megahertz of spectrum will be in the 410 MHz to 430 MHz band. The deadline for submission of tenders is Nov. 24, with a decision scheduled for Jan. 19.

The selection process will use a two-stage evaluation process. In the first stage, the applications will be assessed to determine whether they are in compliance with the requirements of the tender document. The second stage is a comparative selection process incorporating evaluation criteria, which are outlined and weighted in the tender document.
