Jumbuck says mobile matches made in heaven

Jumbuck, an Australian VAS firm, is trying to translate the love affair people have with their phones into real life social relationships.
“The mobile phone is a device that has a wonderful intimate relationship with the users,” said David Gibbs, the firm’s CEO, noting that as a device the phone had become “absolutely critical.”
The reason for this, however, lies less in the phone’s voice capabilities than in the handset’s ability to act as a “boredom buster” offering people “instant gratification” through social media.
Jumbuck, which started out facilitating chat and dating on the mobile phone, is now rapidly evolving into a social matchmaker, trying to connect people who are having similar real time experiences.
Take for example, Jumbuck’s “Pets” social app.
“If my pet has a particular disorder, can I find someone else whose pet has a similar disorder?” asked Gibbs.  Or “If I’m about to go walking my dog, who else in the neighborhood is about to walk their dog and would like to come with me?”
The firm currently works with 120 carriers globally, but believes it could really expand its reach, bringing its value and matchmaking skills to the wider mobile market.
