Ruckus Wireless continues its ANZ expansion

Ruckus Wireless | February 24, 2011 | Press Release
Three Figure Growth in 2010, New Appointment, Award
SYDNEY, Australia – February 2011 – Ruckus Wireless™, manufacturer of advanced “Smart Wi-Fi” technology and wireless LAN (WLAN) systems used by enterprises and carriers around the world, continues to make an impression on both customers and its partners in the ANZ region where the company enjoyed a milestone 450 per cent revenue growth in calendar year 2010 (over 2009).
The company continues to grow its presence through increased partner numbers and additional Ruckus direct appointments. The company’s latest recruit, Chris Evans, has taken on the newly created role of Sales Manager, Southern Region. Evans has 15 years proven sales track record in IT&C most recently with Singtel Optus and Enterasys Networks.
Carl Jefferys, Ruckus Country Manager said, “Chris is a valuable addition to the ANZ team. His proven strength in telecommunications and internetworking has assisted countless enterprises over many years. We are experiencing higher demand, new orders and new customers for our Wi-Fi solutions. Chris will be focused in our growth sectors of hospitality, education, healthcare and mining.
Ruckus has more than 2,000 channel partners worldwide and last year, due to its highly awarded Partner Program (The Big Dog Partner Program) and the passion of the Australian Country Manager (Carl Jefferys), Australian VAR numbers grew by 50 per cent. “I really believe that Ruckus has become one of the WLAN channel”s hottest players in the past 18 months,” said Jefferys. “Ruckus” approach is to integrally combine the technical with the personal to ensure its partners succeed. Additionally, the combination of the products” technical prowess and the price points, coming in well below most of its competitors, makes them easy for the channel to sell.”
Ruckus delivers its new generation products to the carrier market – over 300 telecommunications organisations use the Ruckus solution worldwide – as well as the medium to large enterprise space.
Today, Ruckus is firmly positioned in the mobile Internet infrastructure space. In its most recent Market Share: Enterprise WLAN Equipment, Worldwide, 3Q10 report by Gartner, Ruckus Wireless was noted as the fastest growing WLAN supplier for unit shipments of WLAN coordinated access points for midsize and large enterprises from Q3, 2009 to Q3, 2010, estimating Ruckus unit shipment growth of 95% during the period.
At the recently held Mobile World Congress conference and exhibition Ruckus was awarded the Best Mobile Broadband Technology by the GSMA organisation. [The GSMA represents the interests of the worldwide mobile communications industry, spanning 219 countries.]
“The award was for our Mobile Wi-Fi Gateway System (WSG). It is the most prestigious award the GSMA gives out,” said Jefferys. At the Congress, Ruckus unveiled a comprehensive product and technology roadmap, including a new category of mobile Wi-Fi gateways, aimed at helping mobile operators cleanly integrate carrier-purposed Smart Wi-Fi technology into 3G and 4G cellular infrastructures.
The compelling argument is that Wi-Fi is the simplest, most cost effective tool for service providers to address the disparity between exponential demand for wireless capacity and the linear supply of available wireless spectrum. Wi-Fi will be an essential part of the Mobile Internet infrastructure even as carriers migrate from 3G to LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology.
“We live in exciting internetworking and access times and Ruckus is there leading the way!” said Jefferys.
