BELLEVUE, Wash.-Western Wireless Corp. reported total company revenue for the first quarter ended March 31 increased from $115.8 million during the first quarter last year to $159.3 million this year. Subscribers increased from 695,500 at the end of the first quarter in 1999 to 874,700 subscribers this year.
Western Wireless reported a net income of $1.1 million for the quarter, compared with a net loss of $113.5 million last year. Diluted earnings per share grew from a loss of $1.49 per share to a profit of 1 cent per share during the same time period.
