Paramount forms mobile-focused division

Paramount Pictures Corp. has created a new unit dedicated exclusively to mobile content. Paramount Mobile Entertainment, which will operate under the umbrella of the studio’s digital division, will develop mobile content and alternative distribution models for the studio, the company said.
Some networks and studios have opted to create a standalone mobile division while others have decided to wrap mobile operations under a “digital” division of the business. Paramount’s move is simply a re-organization that puts mobile endeavors under a new business unit.
“Paramount Mobile Entertainment was established to advance our mobile initiatives by placing us at the forefront of the evolving wireless industry,” Sandi Isaacs, senior VP of mobile and interactive, said in a news release.
Isaacs also announced the addition of three new executives that will focus on markets North America, Asia Pacific and Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Paramount currently has content deals with wireless carriers and content creators to develop applications and content based on its library of titles. Partners include AT&T Mobility, Verizon Wireless, O2 UK, Hungama, Nokia Corp. and more.
