LTEWS: Amdocs' acquisitions enable new offering

Amdocs showcased its offering for small cell network planning that leverages recent acquisitions, including Actix and Celcite, at the recent LTE World Summit.
Neil Coleman, director of marketing at Amdocs, discussed the Smart Cell Placement solution with RCR Wireless News. Smart Cell Placement identifies experience hot spots by gathering key business data. It is designed to enable service providers to make decisions about small cell placement and target investment to high-value locations and customers.
Coleman said that the new offering provides heat maps, on a street-by-street basis, of network demand in order to facilitate better network planning and decide whether to deploy small cells or extend the macro network. He said that Amdocs expects the product to streamline operators’ processes and improve their network-related return on investment.
Coleman also discussed how Amdocs’ self-optimizing network solutions are helping networks handle the huge influx of traffic that the World Cup creates.
