Cooper eyes emergency alerts with MadahCom acquisition

Cooper Industries Ltd. announced it acquired MadahCom Inc. for $43 million. Florida-based MadahCom, which manufacturers wireless emergency control and mass-notification systems, had sales of about $22 million in 2006 and currently has more than 200 installations worldwide at military, government, commercial sites, industrial locations and other campus environments.
The company will become part of Cooper Wheelock’s notification system business as it looks to expand its emergency alerts offerings.
“MadahCom’s capabilities in wireless technology deliver the industry-leading solution in the rapidly growing mass-notification systems market, where delivering the right message to the right people at the right time is paramount for evacuation and security,” Cooper Industries Chairman and CEO Kirk Hachigian said.
