Test & Measurement: Tektronix's equipment used for 4K TV monitoring

Tektronix said that Latin America’s largest pay-TV provider is using its WVR8300 Waveform Rasterizer to monitor its ultra-high-definition broadcast of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Globosat is using the World Cup as an opportunity to showcase 4K television, or ultra-HD TV with horizontal resolution of 4,000 pixels, to early adopters. Globosat will use Tektronix’s equipment to monitor the signal from its 4K cameras shooting the games; it was already a customer using the WVR, but is relying on new 4K software for the World Cup that will not be globally available until the third quarter.

–National Instruments has partnered with workshop and fabrication studio TechShop to outfit two of its electronics labs with NI’s equipment and software.
TechStop is a membership-based, do-it-yourself organization based in San Jose, Calif., with locations around the country. Its labs in San Francisco and Round Rock, Tex., will be the first to be set up with NI’s technology, with more set to follow as the company grows.
Agilent Technologies introduced a new multi-channel test solution for LTE and LTE-Advanced, which is designed to support design analysis for carrier aggregation and spatial multiplexing for MIMO. The PXI-based test solution allows multi-channel test system configurations and analyzing them simultaneously in the frequency and modulation domains.
Agilent also announced this week that it is working with the world’s largest mobile operator, China Mobile, on “5G” research and development. Read more here. 
Rohde & Schwarz showcased its test solutions for the connected car at the Automotive Testing Expo in Stuttgart, Germany. The company said it has a new compliance test software option for Broadcom’s BroadR-Reach technology, available on its R&S RTO oscilloscopes (RTO-K24 pictured above right). The company expanded the application field of the RTO oscilloscopes to include automotive Ethernet interfaces such as BroadR-Reach.
R&S also introduced the new R&S TS-ITS100, which it says is the first fully-automated test system for standard-compliant testing of RF components for vehicle-to-vehicle communications and intelligence transport systems (ITS) in line with the IEEE 802.11p standard. These components are used for vehicle-to-vehicle communications and intelligent transport systems (ITS). The system can verify regional standards including ETSI EN 302 571 in the EU, IEEE 802.11-2012 in the USA or the ARIB standard in Japan, according to Rohde & Schwarz.
