LTE World Summit: Allot's CTO on big data analytics

Jay Klein, Chief Technology Officer for Alott Communications discusses what “big data analytics” really means, practical applications of using big data analytics to help businesses, and why it’s so important for operators to utilize the benefits of big data.
Klein gives an example of GPS tracking that may be useful on an individual level, but is far more relevant when averaged on a large scale for a specific location.
“We can track each user’s velocity, which may be important — but what is more important is actually trying to average the speeds of users on a specific highway, in order to evaluate better what is the best route to take if I’m about to plan my way ahead,” Klein said.
Klein added that changes in mobile devices and user behavior over the past 15 years make big data analytics increasingly important to operators as they try to connect to customers.
