Another week brings another Amazon smartphone rumor, but this time the reports are quite specific and include dates. The Wall Street Journal reports that the online retailer has been showing off its smartphone to developers in Seattle and San Francisco, and that the handset will make a public appearance in late June. By fall, the Amazon phone is expected to be shipping. Presumably, this will be an Android phone, following the lead of Amazon’s Kindle tablets. But the company has recently hired two top executives who are known to be Windows phone experts, and of course Amazon and Microsoft are neighbors in the Northwest.
Today’s report says that the Amazon smartphone will use 3D technology to set itself apart. Retina tracking and four front facing cameras will give users the illusion of three dimensional images, reportedly making the handset an ideal choice for gamers.
