The past, present and the future of the Ethernet were deeply debated at the Ethernet’s 40th birthday celebration. During the two-day event, Ethernet creators and vendors talked about what’s next, the impact of the cloud, software-defined networking and new datacenter demands. RCR Wireless News spotlighted these issues in video interviews at the event:

Erin Dunne, director of research services at Vertical Systems Group, shared her thoughts on how content providers and carriers are scrambling to build datacenters.

SDN is not the future: it’s now
IDC’s vice president for network infrastructure, Rohit Mehra, talked about how software-defined networking (SDN) is already getting results and commented on the global challenges SDN addresses.
